... an update a week before take off with “The Man in the Moon”
John Burgess (Director)
“The Man in the Moon”, our Pantomime for 2006, is now well on it’s way to the launch pad, with the rehearsals and general preparations going well. We are delighted to have some new members involved for this show, both on and off the stage, which brings fresh energy and life into the group.
This Pantomime has all the usual ingredients but, as the title suggests, some of the action is “out of this world”! The music has proved to be quite a challenge, as there are 20 numbers involved, including songs and tunes from musicals, films and the pop charts, from the 1950s to the present day. So no matter what your musical preference, you should find something to join in with or at least get your feet tapping.
Performances will be at 7.30 pm from Wednesday Jan. 4th to Saturday, Jan. 7th inclusive, plus a matinee on the Saturday at 3 pm. Doors will be open half an hour prior to each performance. Licensed bar as usual. Tickets will be available from either The Paper Shop or Spar & Post Office from the first week of December or on the Box Office number.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the show, as our audiences are the reason we have been able to notch up so many successful productions over the last 19 years. You are our only source of income, laughter, applause, booing (in the appropriate places of course) and without you, playing to 140 empty chairs each night really would be rather awful “oh no it wouldn’t” – “oh yes it would”!
So, please get your tickets early, as some people have been disappointed in recent years, by leaving it until the last minute.
Finally, we all at Bozeat Players wish you all a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas.

It is the group's 19th pantomime and John Burgess has been involved in most of them. He said: "This was the first time I have used the internet to find a show and I was amazed at the number of stories available. It is good fun or all the family." The Man in the Moon is similar to the tale of Dick Whittington but, instead of going to London to find fortune, a family flies to the moon to seek dust that turns into gold. Along the way they encounter moon men, monsters and an evil magician.
Performances started at 7.30pm with a matinee at 3pm on the Saturday afternoon. Tickets cost £4.50 and £3.50 for concessions and they are available from the Paper Shop and the Spar Stores in the village.

The Man in the Moon
A Report from the Chairman: James Spencer
As another successful performance draws to a close all the sets and equipment go into storage. At this time we look back over the last few months and remember the hours of planning, fun, hard work and triumphs.
Thanks need to go to the committee for all their hard work, also the production team need thanking for all their work behind the scenes. I would also like to give thanks to my back stage team, Rebecca McCallum, Gareth Archer, Tracy Hurley and Keith Waite who have put in so many hours over the last few months.
At this time we need to give thanks to our director, John Burgess, also there are many people who are involved in putting on a production of this scale, but many are forgotten, this is a Thank You to all those who have helped to make this years production of ‘The Man In The Moon’ truly spectacular.
We also thank our audiences for supporting us so well, we hope you have enjoyed watching the show as much as we have in bringing the show to you. As another show finishes, the planning begins for the next performance, this is a process that takes place over many months and comes to a climax for just a few days.
We are always looking for new volunteers to help us produce the quality of shows we have produced in the past, and we are always looking to bring the love of theatre to an ever-growing audience. If you would like to be involved in following productions then please contact and we would only be too pleased to welcome you into our ranks.
The Bozeat Players not only produce shows for the village, we also give a lot back to the local community. Once again this year daffodil and tulip bulbs have been planted around the village for your pleasure, also over the last 12 months the Bozeat Players have given donations to local village charities.
We hope you will support us by coming to one of our next production performances.

... and from John Burgess, the Director
2006 is our 20th anniversary year and we are not allowing the dust to settle on the panto, before planning our next production!
“The Man in the Moon” was a resounding success, which enabled us to entertain not only our regular, local audiences but people from such far flung regions of the realm as Norfolk and Yorkshire (perhaps we should go on tour next year?). The new members who joined us both on and off the stage for this production, thoroughly enjoyed their first show and are itching to get into the next one.
Final figures on the financial side are not yet available but early signs are that profits will not quite challenge those of Shell, even though we bought the rocket fuel from them!
We all enjoyed our annual evening meal recently, which was attended by 24 members and their guests, with the majority managing to get home afterwards unaided! Our Social Secretary is busy planning various things for the rest of the year, as the social side of the group is most important.
We have discovered a comedy play, with a side-splitting script and are looking at performing it the week after Easter (details will be posted around the village). We are very pleased to have recruited a new male to “tread the boards”, as a direct result of the panto and anyone else wishing to join us, in whatever capacity, will be made welcome –please call John. It is planned that we will mark our 20th anniversary with a special show later in the year. The hope is that we will be able to welcome back many past members to join us for this celebration and that it will be as enjoyable as “South Pacific”, which we performed 10 years ago.
Finally, it would be good to see as many people as possible at our A.G.M. this year, which will be held in a few weeks time (again, details will be posted around the village). There is no obligation to join Players, just because you come along and find out what we are like and how the group operates – and you might even enjoy a glass of wine with us?
Anyone wishing to find out more about Bozeat Players can use these village website pages the Namdram website www.namdram.co.uk or simply call John.
