Council report - [from Bozeat Matters Village Magazine - March 09]
BOZEAT MATTERS REPORT FOR BOZEAT PARISH COUNCIL
Submitted by Lyndis Payne [Clerk to Bozeat Parish Council], 65 Queen Street, Bozeat. Telephone 01933 664760. Email: lyndispayne@btinternet.com
Dog Mess We have received many complaints about the volume of dog mess around the High Street area and on the Playing Field. Can I remind residents who walk their dogs on the Playing Field that dogs must be kept on the lead at all times [the Playing Field is subject to a Dog Control Order which was issued by the Borough Council a couple of years ago] and owners must clean up after their pet. Overgrown Hedges/Trees/Shrubs Spring is the time of year when we get a lot of complaints about vegetation growing across the pavement, can I ask everyone to take a few minutes over the Easter holidays to have an honest look at their boundary to see if they need to cut any foliage back. Wind Farms At the time of writing we have received details of a revised planning application for the wind farm at Podington and members of the council are working through the application and, where appropriate, we will be referring to the comments that we submitted last time. We are aware that a revised planning application is imminent for the Nun Wood site and will be looking at how best to respond once it has been received. Emergency Plan We are delighted to be one of the first parishes to produce an Emergency Plan and would like to congratulate James Spencer and Andrew Green on this achievement. We would also like to thank those village residents, companies and organisations who have agreed to be included in the list of emergency contacts. We do hope that we never need to use the plan but it is a comfort to know that it is in place. Affordable Housing We are pleased to learn that work has begun, at last, on the new housing scheme on Harrold Road. These homes will be rented to people with proven local connections and you will need to register with the Borough Council as well as the Northamptonshire Rural Housing Association if you want to be considered for one of them. Street Lighting The project to upgrade the street lights is moving on well and we have already asked the County Council to take over responsibility for lights in Queen Street, Mill Road, Clayland Close, Stoney Piece Close, Abbey Close, Roberts Street, Manor Close and Easton Lane. We will be passing over other streets as, and when, work has been completed. Allotments We are still looking for additional land in an effort to reduce our waiting list and have heard of a scheme whereby people who have large gardens are able to offer a part of it as an allotment. We are investigating whether this scheme might work in Bozeat, and, if you have a large garden and might be interested in allowing a part to be used in this way, please do let us know. Parish Plan The Parish Council has adopted the text for the revised draft Plan and work is now underway to finish off the document, we had hoped to publish the Plan before now, so our apologies to all those involved that it is taking longer than we hoped. Annual Parish Meeting The Annual Parish Meeting for Bozeat will take place on Monday, 16th March 2009 at 7 pm in the schoolroom of the Bozeat Independent Wesleyan Church, Dychurch Lane, Bozeat. This meeting is open to the public throughout and will be followed by the usual monthly meeting of the Parish Council. Annual Meeting Our Annual Meeting will be held on Monday, 18th May 2009 at 7 pm, when the Chairman for the next year will be elected as will working parties, sub-groups and other representatives. Freedom of Information Act - A Publications Scheme Bozeat Parish Council has adopted the Model Publications Scheme and details of what information is available can be obtained from the Clerk. Copies of the agenda for meetings and approved minutes are available to members of the public attending council meetings, and at Wollaston and Wellingborough Libraries and these are also available to view on the Bozeat Website. Meetings Other meetings:- Monday, 20th April 2009 and Monday, 15th June 2009. Members of the public are very welcome to attend meetings and we do allow up to 15 minutes at the start of each meeting for residents to address the Councillors. All meetings start at 7 pm and are held in the schoolroom of the Independent Wesleyan Church, Dychurch Lane, Bozeat.

BOZEAT NEIGHBOURHOOD ACTION
Liz Eyre, 1 Dychurch Lane, 664941
Last year some village residents suggested it would be a good idea to meet on a regular basis and undertake some spring cleaning or environmental enhancements around the village. Several people volunteered but unfortunately our first meeting was cancelled because of very heavy rain! Would you like to help?
We are going to meet on the first Sunday of each month at 2.30 pm on the Village Green, starting from Sunday March 1st and then April 5th and May 3rd.Please bring a bag and gloves. Coffee and biscuits will be provided after the pick. All volunteers pick at their own risk. The more people that can spare an hour, the more we do.Think globally, act locally, we can’t tidy Britain but we can get Bozeat tidy!
COMMUNITY SPEED WATCH
Penny Brannon (Co-ordinator), 3 Mile Street, 663359
I have been advised by ACRE and by Northamptonshire Police that Bozeat has been chosen to take part in the Community Speed Watch Programme in 2009 and I have been asked to act as Co-ordinator. The dates when the equipment will be available to us are: 15 August to 21 August : 29 August to 4 September : 12 September to 18 September.
Volunteers are needed please to operate the speed guns. Training will be available to new volunteers on one Saturday morning from 10 am to 12.30 pm Refresher training will be available if required by volunteers who were trained last year. We found out last year that you really do need three volunteers for each hour that Community Speed Watch operates. Can you help by being part of the team?
Please get in touch - and thank you.
